Satoshis
Satoshis are the smallest unit of the digital currency Bitcoin. They are named after Satoshi Nakamoto, the pseudonymous creator of Bitcoin. Just like a dollar can be divided into cents, one Bitcoin can be divided into smaller units called satoshis.
One Bitcoin is equal to 100,000,000 satoshis (100 million satoshis). In other words, one Bitcoin can be represented as 1 BTC or 100,000,000 satoshis.
Satoshis are used to facilitate microtransactions and smaller value transactions on the Bitcoin network. As the value of Bitcoin can be quite high, using satoshis allows for more granular and affordable transactions on the blockchain. It is common to see prices quoted in satoshis when dealing with small amounts or fractions of a Bitcoin.
